Attractions in Brunei


JAME’ ASR HASSANIL BOLKIAH MOSQUE
It is the largest and most magnificent mosque in the country, with its shimming golden domes and intricately ornamental minarets. Set in a beautiful landscaped garden complete with fountains, the mosque was built to commemorate the 25th anniversary of His Majesty’s resign.


ISTANA NURUL IMAN
Istana Nurul Iman is His Majesty’s residence, the largest residential palace in the world with 1,700 rooms. Featuring golden domes and a sweeping roofline, the Istana is open to public during Hari Raya Adilfitri festivities when tourists and locals are welcome to greet members of the royal family

  
JERUDONG PARK
The Jerudong Park offers entertaining rides for adults and children alike. It used to host several concerts by international artists including Micheal Jackson, Whitney Houston and Stevie Wonder.

The Royal Brunei Golf and Country Club, Jerudong Park Playground are all locate within the Jerudong Park.


OIL AND GAS DISCOVERY CENTRE
Situated at an open field in the oil town Seria, the Oil and Gas Discovery Centre (OGDC) is another popular family-oriented landmark in the Belait district that serves both educational and recreational purposes. It was inaugrated by His Majesty on September 14,2002. The science-based interactive centre has seven galleries showcasing over 100 interactive exhibits detailing the science behind the oil and gas industry in Brunei. A recreational traffic games park is built outside the centre to instill road safety awareness in young visitors.. The centre also has a challenging outdoor setting: among them a giant chessboard, a skateboarding ramp, a jogging track and awalkway that leads to the Billionth Barrel Monument. The centre also houses a cinema.

  
THE BILLIONTH BARREL MONUMENT
The Billionth Monument was constructed in 1991 to commemorate the one billionth production of crude oil from seria field 1 well, which is the first well dug almost 70 years ago. The monument is located close to the Seria seawall, near the site of the well and is a mere five-minute drive from the town centre. Designed by a local architect for the Brunei Shell Petroleum, the momument features a tall arched entrance between two rows of trees and a tiled floor.
